My name is Jan Voeten. Together with my family I live in Beerse. Beerse is a small village near Turnhout, 40 kilometers from Antwerp.
I was born in Beerse Belgium in 1959. In the mid 1970's my brother and I purchased a 4.5" Newton telescope. Two years later we ordered a kit of a 10" Newton telescope including a mount in a shop in Antwerp. Visual observation of planets, moon and bright galaxies was our main activity. After a few months we used a wet-film camera to make B/W pictures of these objects.
A few years later at the beginning of the 1980's I got married and moved to Turnhout. Due to professional work and other commitments I stopped my astronomical activities. Since two years, after more than 25 years of deep sky inactivity, the astronomy virus awaked and I decided to buy a Meade 12" LX200GPS for more serious work. During the last months my main focus changed to astro-photography.
Astronomy evolved from a hobby into a passion.
